Frank Duckworth, co-inventor of DLS method, dies at 84
Frank Duckworth, co-inventor of Duckworth-Lewis (later Duckworth-Lewis-Stern) method to determine results in rain-affected cricket matches, passed away aged 84. The Lytham-born statistician created Duckworth-Lewis method with Tony Lewis. The method was renamed Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method after retirement of Duckworth and Lewis, followed by modifications by Australian statistician Steven Stern.
