Freight charge regulation may cause more harm than good: Goyal

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal backed a market-driven approach to freight and shipping rates amid ongoing disruption driven by Iran war. He argued that government regulation of freight charges could create more problems than it solves. Goyal noted that freight rates had remained exceptionally low for several years, and regulating shipping rates now could result in elevated freight costs.
