From fruit flies to future diagnostics: New Parkinson’s detection
Parkinson's disorder, characterised by the progressive death of dopamine-producing brain cells affects more than 1/8th of the population. Traditional methods are often expensive and are unable to detect it early. Researchers at CSIR-CIMAP and AcSIR have used machine learning to help detect early biochemical signatures of Parkinson's disease in fruit flies.
