FSSAI eliminates the need for renewal of food business licences

FSSAI brought reforms in Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Amendment Regulations, 2026. It gave a perpetual validity to licences for food business operators, eliminating the need for renewals every one to five years. They will remain valid unless suspended, cancelled or surrendered in case of violations. The move aims to reduce businesses' compliance burden.
