FSSAI issues notice to Flipkart, BigBasket for selling oil that claimed to reduce bad cholesterol

FSSAI has issued notices to Flipkart India Private Limited and Innovative Retail Concepts Private Limited, which operates BigBasket, for selling 'Freedom Cooking Rice Bran Oil' that claimed to reduce bad cholesterol. FSSAI also issued notice to Gemini Edibles & Fats India Limited, which promoted the oil with the said claims. The claims were not covered under the food safety regulations.
