FSSAI plans to ban high-fat food sales within 50 metres of schools

FSSAI is considering curbing the sale of high-fat, sugar and salt (HFSS) foods within 50 metres of schools to promote healthier eating habits among students, CEO Rajit Punhani said. He said the move would combine regulation with consumer education and behavioural nudges for the students. The government is also emphasising preventive healthcare to reduce the long-term disease burden.
