The Gadhimai festival in Nepal, considered to be the world's largest animal sacrifice ritual, took place on Friday in south Kathmandu. On the first half of the two-day event, 5000 buffaloes were slaughtered. Devotees believe that Gadhimai, the Goddess of power, will bring them good luck after ritual sacrifices. The event starts with the priest trickling down his own blood.
