Gaetz, Trump's attorney general pick, withdraws nomination amid sexual misconduct allegations
Republican Matt Gaetz withdrew his nomination days after US President-elect Donald Trump picked him for the attorney general post. Gaetz is under investigation for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old girl and has denied wrongdoing. He resigned from the US House of Representatives last week. "There's no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle," he wrote on X.
