Ganga sprayed with chemicals to clear algal bloom in UP's Varanasi
A National Mission for Clean Ganga team on Sunday sprayed chemicals in River Ganga between Dashashwamedh and Assi ghats in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi to clear it of algal bloom. It was removed using 3,000 litre of bioremediation solution. The algae had bloomed due to the presence of nitrogen and phosphorus in the river, coming from untapped drains, an official said.
