Ganga water unfit for bathing in most places in Bihar, faecal bacteria found: Survey

As per the Bihar Economic Survey 2024-25, the water of river Ganga is not fit for bathing at most places in the state due to the presence of high levels of faecal coliform bacteria (found in human excreta). "This is mainly due to discharge of sewage/domestic waste water from cities...on the banks of Ganga," the survey stated.
