Garbage has reportedly been piling up across Punjab as the statewide indefinite strike by municipal sanitation workers entered its ninth day on Thursday. Workers are demanding regularisation of contractual and outsourced staff and a minimum monthly wage of ₹40,000 among other benefits. Sangrur, the home district of CM Bhagwant Mann, is reportedly among the worst-hit by the waste crisis.
