Garcia de Orta: the Portuguese physician who fled to India

Garcia de Orta fled Portugal to escape the Portugese Inquisition's religious persecution since he was born a Jew. In India, he authored 'Colóquios dos Simples e Drogas e Coisas Medicinais da Índia' and served as the Nawab of Ahmadnagar's physician. Despite his death, his body was exhumed, and he was posthumously convicted of Judaism by the inquisitorial court in Goa.
