Geetha Johri becomes Gujarat's first woman police chief

Geetha Johri has been appointed as the Director General of Police of Gujarat, becoming the state's first woman police chief. The 1982 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer will be replacing PP Pandey, an accused in Ishrat Jahan encounter case, who resigned from the post. Johri is presently posted at the State Police Housing Corporation in Gandhinagar as managing director.
