General Asim Munir takes charge as Pakistan's new Army chief

General Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday assumed charge as Pakistan's new Army chief, replacing General Qamar Javed Bajwa who retired after two consecutive three-year terms. Munir is the country's 17th Chief of Army Staff. He is the first Army chief who has headed both Pakistan's Military Intelligence (MI) and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
