Genius' lawsuit against Google over copied lyrics dismissed in US

Lyrics website Genius' lawsuit against Google for allegedly using copied song lyrics in search results was dismissed by a US state court. Genius had filed the lawsuit against Google and licensing company LyricFind asking for $50 million in damages in December 2019. The judge ruled that while the lyrics-scraping claims were credible, the scraping did not constitute a copyright violation.
