Geomagnetic storm likely to hit Earth today

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued a geomagnetic storm watch for December 16 and 17, as a trio of coronal mass ejections are set to collide with Earth's magnetic field. According to latest models, these CMEs are expected to merge into a single storm. The source of these solar events is sunspot AR3514, emitting flares consistently since December 13.
