German Chancellor Angela Merkel's cabinet on Tuesday approved plans for Germany to join the military campaign against the IS in Syria. Germany will be sending Tornado reconnaissance jets, refueling aircraft, a frigate to protect a French aircraft carrier, and up to 1,200 soldiers to the Middle East. However, Germany will not be participating in air strikes in the region.
