German football club Schalke 04 removes Gazprom sponsor from jerseys

German football club Schalke 04 on Thursday said it will remove the sponsorship logo of Russian state-owned energy company Gazprom from its jerseys following Russia's military operation in Ukraine. Gazprom has been a sponsor of Schalke since 2006. Schalke added the logo will be replaced with "Schalke 04" instead. Gazprom is also a sponsor of the UEFA Champions League.
