German parliament approves new law to lift most COVID-19 restrictions

Germany's parliament, known as the Bundestag, on Friday approved a new law in a 388-277 vote that lifted most COVID-19 restrictions. Health Minister Karl Lauterbach said the new Infection Protection Act was a "difficult compromise". Germany's Robert Koch Institute on Friday reported 2,97,841 new COVID-19 cases. Wearing of masks is no longer required in schools, shops or restaurants.
