German tourist detained in Iran, Germany's Foreign Ministry says

A German tourist has been detained in Iran, the German Foreign Ministry said on Saturday. The individual is receiving consular assistance, it added. Notably, several foreigners and dual citizenship holders have been arrested by Iranian authorities over recent years, mostly on espionage and security-related charges. Rights groups believe that this is done to gain leverage for diplomatic deals.
