Germany saw record 15,800 deaths amid deadly European heatwaves

Germany was the worst-hit country in Europe's deadly heatwaves this summer, with a record 15,800 heat-related deaths, according to Berlin-based Robert Koch Institute. In a single week in late June, 9,600 deaths were recorded in the country when temperatures crossed 41°C. France and Spain were also severely hit, with the combined toll in the three countries crossing 25,000.
