NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) captured an image of the Red Planet's northern hemisphere, showing frozen sand dunes, looking like 'kidney beans'. The dunes are motionless, whereas, dunes on Earth are constantly shifting due to wind. During winter on Mars, the frost prevents wind from moving sand. Scientists are studying the dunes to learn about Mars' past.
