Giant 650-foot-deep sinkhole opens up in Chile, picture emerges

Chilean authorities on Monday said they are investigating a giant 'mysterious' sinkhole which opened up near the capital city Santiago. The sinkhole is about 25 meters (82 feet) in diameter and is approximately 200 metres (656 feet) deep, an official said. "We haven't detected any material down there, but we've seen the presence of a lot of water," he added.
