Gilberto Mora becomes youngest to start for Mexico at FIFA WC

Mexico midfielder Gilberto Mora became the youngest player to start a FIFA World Cup match for Mexico after being named in the starting XI against Czechia at FIFA World Cup 2026. Mora achieved the feat at 17 years and 253 days old and is now sixth-youngest player to start a World Cup match. Northern Ireland's Norman Whiteside remains youngest-ever starter.
