Global military spend hits $2.9 trillion amid rising wars: Report

Global military spending reached $2.9 trillion in 2025, rising 2.9% and marking 11 straight years of growth, says Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. The US spent $954 billion, China $336 billion, and Russia $190 billion. Europe surged 14%, Asia 8.5%. Ukraine spent 40% of GDP, while US defence could exceed $1 trillion in 2026.
