Global one-horned rhino population reaches 4,075; Assam has 80%

The global population of the greater one-horned rhinoceros has reached a record 4,075, with Assam accounting for nearly 80% of the population. India has the largest share of the global population with around 3,323 rhinos, with the Kaziranga National Park alone supporting 2,600, state minister Jayanta Malla Baruah said. The global population was fewer than 100 in the early 1900s.
