GM buys SoftBank's stake in self-driving unit Cruise for $2.1 bn

General Motors has agreed to buy SoftBank Vision Fund 1's stake in its self-driving startup Cruise for $2.1 billion. It will also make a separate $1.35 billion investment in the unit that SoftBank had committed to make in 2018. The transactions will push GM's total ownership in the unit to 80%. Other remaining shareholders in Cruise include Microsoft and Honda.
