Goan-origin Claire Coutinho named UK's new Energy Secretary

The British government has named Claire Coutinho as Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, replacing Grant Shapps who was named Defence Secretary. Coutinho is the second Goan-origin minister after Home Secretary Suella Braverman in UK PM Rishi Sunak's cabinet. The 38-year-old is the first member of UK Parliament elected in 2019 to be promoted to the cabinet.
