Gods who did not fulfil wishes put on trial, punished at temple court in Chhattisgarh

During the Bhado Jatra festival every monsoon, Gods are put on trial and punished at the Bhangaram Devi temple in Bastar, Chattisgarh. "If villagers believe the Gods responsible for solving their problems have failed, they are brought here for trial," a member of temple committee said. The "punished" idols are sometimes kept under trees and their ornaments are not removed.
