Gold hallmarking becomes costlier as govt hikes fee by 67%
The Bureau of Indian Standards revised its hallmarking charges, increasing the fee from ₹45 to ₹75 per article, a 67% hike. The revised rate came into effect on September 14. The minimum consignment charge, the baseline amount payable even for a small batch of items, remains unchanged at ₹200. There is no change in the hallmarking fee for silver articles.
