The lights in the Golden Temple complex were turned off once again after 54 years, as part of a 'blackout' call issued under a nationwide mock drill in response to escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. However, the sanctum sanctorum and other areas where the 'parkash' (illumination ceremony) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was being initiated were excluded from the exercise.
