GoM decides to raise GST on watches, shoes; cut rate on bicycles & notebooks

The Group of Ministers (GoM) on GST rate rationalisation decided to increase GST on high-end wristwatches and shoes, while reducing tax rates on bicycles, exercise notebooks and packaged drinking water, reports said. It suggested raising GST on wristwatches priced above ₹25,000 and shoes priced over ₹15,000 to 28%. Meanwhile, notebooks and 20-litre water bottles will attract reduced GST of 5%.
