Google acqui-hires ex-workers' startup to improve Assistant

Technology giant Google has acqui-hired its former workers' startup Superpod to enhance its AI-powered Assistant's ability to accurately answer questions. The acquisition took place at a reported amount of nearly $60 million. Founded in 2016 by former Google employees Sophia Yang and William Li, Superpod had developed a question-and-answer app where users' queries were responded to by experts.
