Google buys Twitter-backed AI avatar startup Alter for $100 mn: Report

Google has acquired artificial intelligence (AI) avatar startup Alter for about $100 million, TechCrunch reported. As per the report, the acquisition was completed about two months ago and will help Google boost its content offerings and better compete with TikTok. Alter, previously called Facemoji, is backed by Twitter and Play Ventures, among others.
