Google Chrome 'silently' installs 4 GB AI model on devices, reinstalls it when deleted

Google Chrome installed a 4 GB Gemini Nano file on users' devices without consent, according to computer scientist Alexander Hanff. The file, named weights.bin, supports AI features like 'Help me write' and gets reinstalled even if deleted. Google said the model automatically uninstalls if the device is low on resources and can be disabled in Chrome settings.
