Google fined $1.7 bn by EU for unfairly blocking advertising rivals

The EU antitrust regulators on Wednesday imposed a $1.7-billion fine on Google for blocking rival online search advertisers, marking the company's third penalty in two years. Last year, the EU imposed a record $5-billion fine on Google for using the Android operating system to block rivals. In 2017, Google was fined $2.7 billion for hindering rivals of shopping comparison websites.
