Google fined $98 million by Russia for failing to delete banned content

A Russian court on Friday imposed a fine of 7.2 billion rubles ($98 million) on Alphabet's Google for repeatedly failing to delete content deemed illegal by the country. The court said that the penalty was calculated based on Google's revenue. Russia has fined several technology giants this year, however, until the latest ruling, the fines were usually under $1 million.
