Google Hangouts to be replaced by Chat by next year

Google announced that the transition from Google Hangouts to Chat will begin in the first half of 2021. Google Chat is currently an exclusive feature for Google Workspace customers, but will become free for all users next year. All Hangouts conversations, contacts and saved history will be migrated to Chat, as part of Google's plan to phase out Hangouts.
