Google Maps changes suggested route after Russian freezes to death in -50°C

Google Maps changed its recommended route in Russia after an 18-year-old man froze to death in -50°C after taking a wrong turn. The man and his friend got stranded when their car broke down on the snow-covered road. Google Maps had reportedly recommended them a shortcut through a road that is no longer used instead of the longer route.
