Google once fired researcher for highlighting bias in AI

Timnit Gebru, who co-led Google's ethical AI team, had stated she was fired by the company for pointing out risks and biases of large language models in 2020. She co-authored a paper that showed facial recognition to be less accurate at identifying women and people of colour. However, Google had denied the claim, saying she had resigned from the company.
