Google shares fall 4% as chief scientist, 3 other top AI researchers depart

Shares of Google parent Alphabet fell 4% on Wednesday after the company announced a major shake-up in its AI leadership. Chief Scientist Jeff Dean has left the company, along with three other senior AI researchers, to launch a new AI startup called Discovery Loop. Demis Hassabis is stepping down as CEO of Google DeepMind to succeed Dean.
