Google shelves plans to offer bank accounts to its Pay app users
Google is shelving plans to offer banking services to Pay app users, nearly two years after it first announced its banking plans. Google's 'Plex Accounts' would've offered checking and savings accounts with no monthly fees, overdraft charges, or minimum balance requirements. Google's VP and GM of payments Caesar Sengupta, who was leading the 'Plex' project, left the company in April.
