Google spent $2.7 billion (over ₹22,625 crore) to rehire 'AI genius' Noam Shazeer, the WSJ reported. Shazeer, the co-author of a seminal research paper that kicked off the AI boom, quit Google in 2021 after the company's refusal to release his chatbot. Google recently signed a $2.7-billion deal with Noam's startup Character.AI and Shazeer agreed to work for Google again.
