Google to buy analytics startup Looker for $2.6 billion in cash

Google has announced it will acquire US-based data analytics startup Looker in a $2.6-billion all-cash transaction which will join Google Cloud post-acquisition. This marks the first major acquisition under former Oracle executive Thomas Kurian, who was named as the new Google Cloud CEO in November 2018. Wipro Chairman Azim Premji's family office PremjiInvest-backed Looker was founded in 2012.
