Government denies agreeing to 5-day work week for banks: Report

The government never committed to a five-day workweek for banks, and the issue was not discussed during wage settlement talks, Moneycontrol reported. The clarification comes ahead of a nationwide three-day bank strike starting September 28 over the demand. Bank unions claim the industry body agreed to make Saturdays holidays under the wage settlement signed in March 2024.
