Governor dissolves West Bengal Assembly after Mamata Banerjee refuses to resign

West Bengal Governor RN Ravi dissolved the State Assembly on Thursday, even as Mamata Banerjee refused to resign as CM after defeat in the state elections. The Assembly's five-year tenure officially ended on May 7. Banerjee had called her refusal to resign a "symbolic protest", alleging that the BJP "looted" the election. "Let them impose President's rule," she had said.
