Govind Swarup, Father of Indian Radio Astronomy, passes away aged 91
Govind Swarup, who is regarded as the 'Father of Indian Radio Astronomy', passed away aged 91 following a brief illness at a private hospital in Pune on Monday. He was the founding director of the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. He built the Ooty Radio Telescope and the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope.
