Govt abolishes decades old Telecom licensing system forever

The Centre has notified new telecom rules replacing India's decades-old licensing system with an authorisation-based framework under the Telecommunications Act, 2023. The reforms introduce a digital Telecom eServices Portal, simplify approvals for service providers, allow existing licence holders to migrate to the new regime, and establish separate rules for satellite-based telecom services.
