Govt announces cashless treatment scheme for road accident victims

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced a scheme to provide cashless treatment to road accident victims. Under the scheme, the government would bear the cost of treatment for seven days, or ₹1.5 lakh, if police are informed about accident within 24 hours. "We'll also...provide ₹2 lakh for...deceased in hit-and-run cases," he said. Scheme will be expanded to all states by March.
