Govt apathy to warnings main cause of Joshimath crisis: Environmentalist

Failure of successive governments to act on warnings about possible hazards in Joshimath is a major reason behind the subsidence crisis, said environmentalist Chandi Prasad Bhatt. He added that a report had warned the state government of dangers in Joshimath over two decades ago. Bhatt further said that the problem is again "being ignored" in the "name of conducting studies".
